Yam Shel Sheket ('sea of tranquility')

We have been running the unique program since the first week of the war. We aim to grant the teen evacuees in Eilat a sense of peace, comfort and time to process the difficult experiences they had on that 'black' Sabbath.

We have already managed through this activity to create a routine for some 150 youth from the envelope communities and the city of Sderot.  They now have motivation to get up in the morning and engage with life.

Unfortunately, the war-time reality has not changed. At present we are aware of hundreds of teens in Eilat, who are disconnected from the education system and other activities, and they have developed behaviors that characterize youth at risk such as night-time wandering and consumption of drugs and alcohol.
The needs are many Help us help them.

The diving activity strengthens and empowers

We offer the hundreds of teen evacuees who are having trouble finding their place, a challenging and fascinating diving program. The activity takes them out of the hotel room and enables them to face the difficulties. They can get up in the morning, overcome the issues even grow. The exposure to the world of diving and its unique values helps the youth to rediscover their inner strength, restores their self-confidence and strengthens their mental resilience

The program that we developed in collaboration with professionals from the field of therapy and education addresses:

Distraction from the current difficulties by utilizing a challenging and experiential activity

An activity that takes the participants out of their hotel for almost half a day, and allows for rehabilitation and growth

Strengthens and restores inner resilience using methods and skills from the world of diving

Our story

The NGO was founded in 2020 by Boaz Giladi, an educator and diving instructor who gathered around him a team of diving instructors and educators who share the belief that diving has the power to change lives. "Throughout all my years as a diving instructor, I have always felt that the short amount of time currently devoted to training divers does not allow for in-depth educational content and in fact focused mainly on perfecting skills. Over the years, I have seen time and time again how the encounter with the underwater world evokes astonishment and wonder and a great sense of personal empowerment. However, these feelings stopped once they completed the seven-day training program, and many of the divers did not make the encounter with the sea a way of life but rather an experience to which they rarely devoted time. Among teenagers the phenomenon was even greater, partly due to the fact that diving is an expensive sport for them." Through Metsulot, we want to enable teenagers to get to know the life-changing strengths and powers of the world of diving.
We change the way the youth look at the environment by changing the environment from which they are looking out from.
